Our Favorite Things: Cozy Winter Gear

Happy Friday!

This winter has been the season of hunkering down for many New Yorkers. From Sandy to Nemo and to simply just avoiding the bitter cold,

I've certainly gotten the hang of cozying up in my apartment. In the spirit of hunkering down and a nice long weekend and celebrating the fact that fashion week is officially over, here is a list of my favorite cozy winter essentials.

Have a fabulous weekend!

Our Favorite Things: Cute Work Clothes

You know those rare moments in life when everything seems to be falling in place? Almost like you have to pinch yourself to make sure that you're not dreaming because you're actually that happy? Well my life has been feeling like that recently.  Not only do have an adorable puppy, a great apartment, fabulous friends, seeing a guy who never ceases to make me smile, but now I have a job that is pretty much my dream job.  Today I am starting my first day as the assistant photo editor at Daily Candy. Yay! I realized over the weekend, however, that my wardrobe is seriously lacking in the proper office attire department, so I am officially on the hunt for new cute work clothes. Here are a few pieces that I've placed on my shopping list.

Schoolboy Blazer from JCrew
Yes, I know that I already own two pairs of pants, a scarf, ballet flats, and a blouse in the bright orange color, but I really think that I need this blazer.

Truly Dress from DVF
I adore the clean lines and sophistication of this dress.  I'm picturing myself in a big messy bun with a french braid, stilleto mary janes, and my Mignon Faget stud earrings.

Black Blouse from Zara
How cute is this top from Zara? I love the applique detail on the shoulders. It's a gorgeous staple with a little something different.

Contrast Cardigan from Madewell
'm a little obsessed with this whole outfit, but I'm especially in love with this cardigan. It comes in a few different color combos and I may just need to get one of each!

Where do you shop for work clothes? What are your favorite staples?

Our Favorite Things: Fall Shopping List

It's official.  Fall is here and now it's time to hit up my favorite shops to update my fall wardrobe.  Here are just a few of my favorites that are on my shopping list.

Crochet boot cuffs from Lumi Style
I have a teeny tiny boot obsession and am always searching for the perfect socks to wear pulled up with my midcalf Ugg workboots.  These are definitely on my fall shopping list this year!

Dune Cape from Allsaints Spitalfields
When I picture the most sophisticated, part-rocker, New York version of myself, I see myself in Allsaints.  Their sharp lines and monochromatic style are flawless and fit perfectly.  I have a black pea coat by them that makes me feel about ten times more of a bad-ass the moment I put it on.  Don't you just love it when a piece can make you feel that way?

Dotty Knit Blazer from Anthropologie
realize that what I really need is a practical black blazer to wear, but how can I possibly resist this polka dot blazer from Anthro? After all, I do need something to wear while I walk up and down 5th Avenue in  searching for the black blazer, right?

The Zipcode Boot in Suede
am loving this shade of red.  I can think of at least three different outfits where these would work perfectly.

Have you found any great fall boots?

Weekly Roundup!

TGIF, everybody!

Was this not the longest week? It was for me. Adjusting back to school life has proved to be most trying this time around (senioritis is real?) My roommates and I are still settling into our amazing new house… it’s such an exciting time! Among the five of us there is a vegetarian, a pescatarian, a dairy intolerance, a gluten intolerance, and someone who isn’t fond of veggies. My friend Kathryn claims she has found a recipe meeting all the weird food needs under this roof, so I’m most looking forward to catching up with my friends this weekend over dinner.

What are your plans?

This Week We Posted:

Beet Carrot Cashew Ginger Soup

Doesn't this sound fantastic? The name alone makes my mouth water. Thank Colleen for this one!

TND: New Beginnings & Strawberry Rhubarb Pie

Steph lets us in a little about herself, kickstarting a new tradition here at Thursdays, and shares a recipe for my very favorite kind of pie!

Vanessa's Bruschetta

This week we had a guest blogger share a classic bruschetta recipe that the whole family will devour.

DIY Studded Accessories

Martha Stewart does it again. I'm thinking DIY project this weekend!

The Messy Baker Blog: Hazelnut Crusted Tilapia

With lemon-butter sauce? I can't wait to try.

Souvlaki For The Soul: Blood Lime Marmalade

On thick toast or mixed in some Greek yogurt? Mmm...

Glitzen Arrowhead Drops

These adorable studs from Anthropologie would go with anything.. at least that's how I plan on justifying this potential purchase.

Our Favorite Things: Lovely Whimsical Finds

Happy Monday! One of the big design techniques that I admire in the lovely Sara Lowman's interior design style is combining the whimsical with clean and simple lines.  Now that my room is almost completely finished (I still have one more photo to hang and shelves to install), I am on the hunt for the perfect little whimsical details to style my apartment (and as an added bonus my wardrobe!).  Here are a few of my favorite whimsical finds that I've pinned for my home.

P.S. A special thanks to Sara, for sharing the lovely wallpaper company, Eskayel, on her blog!
